Work With Sequoia

WWF is supporting the low carbon transition of China’s energy sector by mobilizing bold climate action from subnational actors and companies through two parallel efforts. Through intensive research, advocacy, and pilot projects, WWF is working to accelerate Hainan’s energy transition. By shifting Hainan to a prosperous, low-carbon development path, WWF believes it can be a lighthouse for other provinces across China. WWF is also supporting leading Chinese companies in setting science-based targets and scaling corporate renewable energy procurement by piloting provincial corporate renewable energy transactions in several target provinces. By providing integrated, and localized support on climate-target setting, renewable energy procurement, and low-carbon innovation, WWF believes the private sector can play a pivotal role in accelerating the energy transition across China.

WWF uses funds from Sequoia to accelerate Hainan’s energy transition while working with corporate and financial institutions on their climate commitments, targets setting, and scaling renewable energy procurement.
